SERVICES - Basic Contract Terms
We develop custom designed websites, and accept customers with existing websites who are looking for changes. We work by a firmly fixed cost quote based upon your requirements.
The initial development stage of your website is the most fun, most important, and at the same time requires the most input from the customer. The first thing we do after setting up the domain name and hosting is to develop a template. This template is where we design the portions of your website that will appear the same on every page (Although there are exceptions ie: as seen here). This template includes the navigation bar, header, footer, etc... We take your detailed input from our first meeting(s), and produce draft templates. We present them (privately posted on the internet) to you for you to "kick the tires on" so to speak, and if there are any changes to be made, we implement those and then present a second set of draft templates for you to kick the tires on. This process usually lasts three to five cycles before we arrive at the ideal template product for you.
Once the template is agreed upon, we then proceed with populating the various pages with their individual content. This tends to be the easy part, however if changes to the template are requested after a template is agreed upon, and after the population of pages is underway, it can increase the cost quote of the project. This is why the quality of our on going communication regarding the final template is so critical to your satisfaction of your final template product, and in keeping costs down.
To begin work we require the domain name and hosting cost up front. This is so that we have server space where we can post successive draft work for your approval, and so you will be able to view it*. We also require a 40% down payment of the cost estimate quoted to you for building the site before we begin work.
Upon satisfactory completion of your website we require the 60% balance. This balance is due within 10 days after work is complete.
We begin work immediately upon receipt of your down payment.
Our customers are the most important part of our business (we state this at the risk of understatement). So, after we complete the initial development of your website, we care for all of our customers' maintenance and upgrade needs. Please see our Maintenance and Upgrade page for further details on how this works.
* This is typically done in such a way that while your website is under development, it will simultaneously be on the web and accessible for your viewing and hidden from all other web viewers until you are ready for your website's full deployment.
